“Need a cab, ma’am?”
“Yes, please. To Union Station.”
He stepped outside, raised his hand, and within two minutes a yellow taxi pulled to the curb. Marcus opened the door for me, helped me inside with the kind of gentle courtesy that made my throat tight.
