My cousin and I welcomed our babies on the same day — yet she never anticipated what would unfold 18 years afterward. However, whenever someone brought it up, Olivia would chuckle and remark, “Maybe we just have stronger genes.” Then she would swiftly shift the conversation. I attempted to persuade myself that I was merely imagining things. Until ONE NIGHT, when our daughters were seventeen. I inadvertently overheard Olivia’s husband having a heated discussion with someone. I can still recall EVERY WORD. “Stop talking about it!” “What if she finds out?” A chill ran through my veins.
