y husband left me with our six-month-old triplets and went on a beach vacation without me because “”I HADN’T EARNED ONE”” — but when he came home, his smug smile disappeared. After five years of fertility treatments, I became pregnant with triplets. It felt like a miracle, and my husband, Ryan, was overjoyed. We immediately agreed that after the babies were born, I would leave my job so I could stay home with them. But once the babies were born, I handled everything around the house by myself. Even though the delivery had been extremely difficult, I took over all the household chores almost immediately after I was discharged from the hospital. I cooked, cleaned, and took care of the babies. And Ryan? He kept saying that because he worked, he WASN’T going to deal with any of the housework. I tried to talk to him and explain that I needed help, but he always said things like: “”Well, you stay home! So everything around the house is completely YOUR responsibility!”” I tried to keep the peace at home. But recently, Ryan came to me and said: “”Honey, I’m finally going on a beach vacation. My friends and I are going to relax.”” I was stunned and asked: “”Ryan, what about me? You didn’t even discuss this with me… I thought we would plan a family vacation together…”” He burst out laughing in my face and said: “”But have you EARNED a vacation?”” My voice trembled: “”Ryan, what are you talking about? I’m taking care of three babies every single day…”” He rolled his eyes and said: “”I work, and I’m paying for MY vacation. You DON’T work, so you haven’t earned one. I’m going WITHOUT YOU, and that’s final!”” And that was exactly what he did. Ryan simply packed his suitcase and went on vacation with his friends. Well, I’d had enough of being treated this way. So I made ONE phone call and invited someone over. When Ryan came home from his vacation, he walked into the house with a huge grin on his face.
